Enhanced Vision today announced its new AcroLite CCTV, its latest desktop video magnifier.
My first thought was, have the makers of the pocket-sized Pebble, the full-sized Acrobat, and the portable Amigo and Transformer discovered an audience for yet another sized electronic magnifier?
Apparently so. While it isn't exactly portable - the 17-inch model weighs 15 pounds - its smaller footprint may help low-vision users with a dearth of desk space who need full CCTV functionality.
The AcroLite's auto-focus camera is mounted above the flat-panel LCD screen, which is connected to a metal base. The camera is detachable for use at multiple workstations and also folds back for easy transport in an optional rolling carrying case.
The 17-inch model occupies a space 14.5- by 8 inches. The 19-inch, about 16- by 8 inches
One immediate advantage I see is price: At $1,945, the smaller AcroLite is just $250 more than the Amigo handheld, and offers higher resolution and greater reading comfort.
