Enhanced Vision has released DaVinci -- a high-definition desktop video magnifier that can also scan and read documents using optical character recognition (OCR) and text-to-speech.
The DaVinci is designed to help persons with low vision lead independent lives by making it easier to read, write, do grooming and self-care, and engage in hobbies and crafts.
OCR scanning and text-to-speech also avail users of a solution for sustained reading that cuts down on eye strain and fatigue.
Enhanced Vision also makes portable video magnifiers, including the Pebble and Amigo.
DaVinci features include:
- 24" high resolution LCD screen
- Magnification up to 77x
- A 3-in-1 Sony HD camera for reading, self- or distance viewing
- Camera position memory settings
- OCR scanning and text-to-speech via Nuance software
- Easy setup; intuitive console and menu
- 28 viewing modes
- Flexible camera arm; screen pivots vertically
- 2 year warranty.
Desktop video magnifiers such as the DaVinci face increasing competition from mobile apps such like VisionAssist and EyeSight, which cost less than $30 as opposed to several thousand.
