Today is Digital Learning Day - a nationwide celebration of innovative teaching and learning through digital media and technology designed to give students a more engaging educational experience.
Throughout the day, most states, hundreds of school districts, thousands of teachers, and nearly 2 million students will experience the innovative use of technology by trying something new, showcasing success, kicking off project-based learning, or focusing on how digital tools can help improve student outcomes.
In recognition of Digital Learning Day, sponsored by the Alliance for Excellent Education's Center for Secondary School Digital Learning and Policy, I present an article by Chad Udell on the growing use of tablets such Apple's iPad as assistive technology for special needs students.
Udell, managing director of Float Mobile Learning, is a leading authority on mobile learning (mLearning) and the development of interactive web applications for organizations of all sizes, from schools to Fortune 500 companies.
