Last week, National Braille Press, a leading publisher of braille books for children and adults, released a list of its bestsellers at the 2012 conventions of the American Council for the Blind (ACB) and National Federation of the Blind (NFB).
The list reflects how popular Apple's iPhone has become among blind and visually impaired users. Three of NBP's top five sellers are iPhone guides. Topping the list is its most recent title: Twenty-One Apps We Can't Live Without, a follow-up to Twenty-Six Use Apps for Blind iPhone Users (#15), which profiles many apps relating to travel for blind people.
Getting Started with the iPhone and iOS 5 for Blind Users came in at #2, while the iPhone Tactile Screenshot Quick Reference Guide was #5.
NBP, a leading proponent of braille literacy, publishes both fiction and nonfiction. Other titles making its top 15 include: Sudoku: Easy to Hard, Curious George and the Ice Cream Surprise, and Summer Cocktail Recipes.
