Perkins School Offers 25000 Assistive Technology Prize

Perkins School for the Blind

The Perkins School for the Blind (Watertown, Mass) today announced the new $25,000 Perkins Assistive Technology Prize -- an initiative it hopes will inspire life-enhancing solutions for persons with disabilities.

The award is being offered as part of MassChallenge 2012, a competition for early-stage entrepreneurs.

I was delighted to learn of the new award, as I'm sure it will generate new products and approaches to help many types of people, the way National Braille Press's Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation has inspired breakthroughs in tactile literacy.

The Perkins prize encompasses all types of disability and all areas of life, including school, work, mobility, communication, and recreation. Visit the MassChallenge application page to learn more.
