ReadingPen2 Gets LD Students Unstuck on New Words

Wizcom Technologies ReadingPen2
You think smart phones pack a lot of assistive technology in a small device? Check out the ReadingPen2 from Wizcom Technologies.

You hold it like an ordinary pen, but this one has an OCR scanner in its tip that scans words and displays definitions on small LCD screen.

And if you wonder how to pronounce that unfamiliar word, it does that, too, using text-to-speech you can listen to through an earphone.

For people with print disabilities such as dyslexia, such functions can increase confidence and reading comprehension by providing that little bump of assistance needed to keep going, rather than get stuck on new or difficult words.
