Replace TimeOuts with MotivAiding Vibes

The MotivAider from Behavioral Dynamics

Sometimes, assistive technology helps most by staying out of the way. I thought of this while reviewing the MotivAider, a personal, pager-sized electronic device you clip to a belt or inside a pocket.

The MovivAider vibrates at regular intervals to remind users of pre-determined goals or desired behavior changes they learn to associate with the signal. The device is often used to help students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder to stay on task.

It's surprising how robust a consistent reminder can be.

With the MotivAider, the teacher doesn't have to be everywhere and the student takes pride in praise associated with self-corrected behavior. Few devices encourage personal responsibility in such an empowering way.
